'Paul Perras' rose Reviews & Comments

Attribution to Levet perhaps originated with the way 'Paul Perras' is listed in Cranston's "Cultural Directions for the Rose" (I'm looking at the 1888 edition, p. 179), where in a thoughtless moment Cranston's "..." could have been (incorrectly) interpreted as signifying a "ditto" to what is above in the table, which is "Levet" (for the line pertaining to 'Paul Neyron').

I recently received one from VG. The first rose it produced reminded me of Mme Isaac Perreire. Several descriptions say "light pink" but the photos here, the photo at VG, and the rose that I observed on a plant received from VG are nothing like light pink. The color is much richer and darker - closer to mauve. Whatever the color, it does smell heavenly.

Vintage Gardens has this rose listed as a hybrid China. VG states in their description that is once blooming. HMF has occasional repeat bloom? Does it repeat?

It's lovely and richly scented but with the first drop of rain it turns into a nasty wad of petals. Still, it's such a pleasure that I've never been able to take it out.
