Notes:
Margaret Harliston (ca. 1452 or 1458 St. Ouen, Jersey - 1500 St. Ouen, Jersey) married Philip De Carteret (1435 - 1502), 8th Seigneur of St. Ouen. When her husband was imprisoned on trumped-up charges as a traitor, she secretly took a boat to the English mainland to convince Henry VII of her husband's innocence, achieving his freedom. As a consequence, several charters were decreed from 1494 onwards, giving Jersey a special position versus the Crown.
