Having exhibited a bud of 'Kaiteri Gold' at a horticultural show last weekend, I brought it home and displayed it indoors. It duly opened and to date it has lasted four days as a near perfect bloom. In doing so it has maintained its deep golden colour, which its companions remaining on the bush have lost completely as they have faded almost to white and lost their form. Obviously a great rose for cutting and displaying in a vase.

The registered trade name in the New Zealand Plant Variety Rights Register (NZPVR) is 'Kaiteriteri Gold', although it is usually referred to as 'Kaiteri Gold'. It would be reasonable to list Kaiteriteri Gold as a synonym. Kaiteriteri is the name of a well-known beach, noted for the golden colour of its sand, in the Nelson region of New Zealand. As with many Maori language names, a shortened form is often used. The 'Kaiteri Gold' rose was named "best climber" in the 2003 New Zealand Rose of the Year Awards, and is still one the most popular yellow climbers in New Zealand.
