Shrub 1-2 m tall. Branchlets erect or spreading, often densely bristly when old, prickles usually absent. Stipules broad, rachis pubescent; leaflets 7 (-9), ovate or ovate-lanceolate, pubescent beneath. Flowers solitary or 2, 3.5-5 cm, red, 5 petals. Hip deep red, ovoid, with persistent erect sepals.
