Flowers long lasting, but susceptible to botrytis in warm rainy weather. Gets botrytis each year in my garden conditions. Falling petals infect leaves after rain. Flowers generally downfacing. Blooms rather late, tolerates hot location (southfacing wall). I've never seen a sign of powdery mildew, but leaves get spots during the season. Sometimes partial defoliation. Does not seem to be a black spot, rather something else. Foliage very prone to fungicide/pesticide damage, may lead to complete defoliation. May be formed as a shrub when new growth is hard pruned before the season (max 1,5 m left). When pruned flowers will appear in relatively big clusters on quite long side shoots. Very popular in Poland due to hardiness.

The flowers on Flammentanz last extremely long without changing in the least. The first ones on our two-year old plant appeared nearly three weeks ago and they look nearly the same now as on day one. I cut one and put in water a week ago and it looks as if cut this morning. Simply amazing. Some other roses' flowers don't even last the day on the bush, let alone in a vase.
