I purchased White Flower Carpet this summer for pot culture. Although I love its color and bloom, the rose is experiencing severe blackspot, rust, and defoliation. The instructions state that it can be planted in full or part sun. My rose is growing in part sun, zone 7, with hot and humid conditions. Our entire growing season this year has been very wet. Is anyone growing this rose in full/part sun, or in a drier climate with success?
It is the least healthy of the Flower Carpet series. I have also noted that the striped one is not as healthy as the roses it mutated from. Flower Carpet Red is also a disease magnet.
Flower Carpet Pink, Flower Carpet Appleblossom, and Flower Carpet Scarlet, from my experience, are the healthiest in the group. However, they are also the largest plants.
MUCH prettier than the typical landscape rose, but also more demanding of the gardener. Feed it generously, water it thoroughly, and deadhead it when you can. It's worth it.. The flowers are glorious-- larger than typical of ground cover rose types and of the purest white with pretty yellow stamens.
