I've been growing shrub and antique roses since 1980. I've grown roses in SE Ohio, northern California, north Texas, and SE Virginia. Believe me, a whole new learning curve comes with each change of soil and climate. I have fewer than 50 roses at home, but am growing both antiques and resistant landscape roses at the Virginia Zoo (Norfolk, VA) and the Chesapeake Arboretum (Chesapeake, VA). I utilize organic gardening techniques primarily but have been known to utilize a few wonders from modern science as well.
