The earliest description of Adélaide d´Orléans, which is quite detailed and therefor reliable (Prevost 1830, see: References) speaks of a flower of 60-80 petals. The photo shows flowers of less than 40 petals, so that this can not be the original Adélaide.

Uli, I have added a scan from Floral Cabinet Sept1st 1837. A very kind friend loaned me this book with the proviso that I copy what I needed. Pat

The colouring of the engraving was not very successful, but I think the meaning is from deep pink center to lighter pink edges. In any case, it is a very full, imbricated bloom. The AdO at Sangerhausen seems to be true.

The Breeder of "Conrad Ferdinand Meyer" is not "Dr. Fr. Müller" but "Dr. Hermann Müller" (1828-1914) due to "Anny Jacob / Hedi Grimm / Werner Grimm / Bruno Müller: Alte Rosen und Wildrosen, Stuttgart (1990), S.26-27.

Both are correct, the full name is Dr. Franz Hermann Müller.

Due to: Anny Jacob / Hedi Grimm / Werner Grimm / Bruno Müller: Alte Rosen und Wildrosen, Stuttgart (1990), S. 26-27, is the name of the breeder of Conrad Ferdinand Meyer and so on "Dr. Hermann Müller" not "Dr. Fr. Müller". Dr. Hermann Müller was born 1828 in Zweibrücken, Germany, and began breeding roses in Weingarten, Germany round about 1882. Especcially breedings with r. rugosa and with Persian Yellow are notable.

Both are correct. Dr. Müller's full name was Franz Hermann. We have merged the two listings.

Mr Distl found following notice in the "Rosenjahrbuch" from 1936 of the german rose association "VDR" ("Verein Deutscher Rosenfreunde"):
"Am 13. Juni d. J. [1936] beging Herr Ökonomierat Stämmler seinen 80. Geburtstag.
So, the rose is named according to this notice after Ferdinand Stämmler, * 13.06.1856. He was member of the german rose association "VDR" and director of the park administration of the german town Liegnitz.
According to this notice of 1936, Tantau bred this rose in the year 1930 and not 1933.
