Besides the true old Rose scent that is present in so many Hybrid Perpetuals, we find the Tea scent, the odours of spice and musk and of honey, even that of Violets (the Polyantha Rose Eugénie Lamesch has a faint scent of Violets)...

The beautiful Daily Mail scented Rose was awarded the Daily Mail Cup carrying £250, as the best new scented seedling Rose in 1927. As far as I can find no such impetus has been offered American growers towards preserving the scent of the Rose.
