'Tassin' rose Description

Bloom:
Red, scarlet undertones, dark red edges. Strong fragrance. Full (26-40 petals), nodding or "weak neck" bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Long, ovoid buds.
Habit:
Upright. Light green, leathery foliage.
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Notes:
Tassin, near Lyon, was the site of the Meilland nursery for many years... Roger Mann reports from Australia that 'Tassin' is actually a dark red rose. It's about as close to black as any rose comes. A superb exhibition rose, and divinely fragrant, but I've always found it a bit stingy for the garden.
