Origin:
Bred by Samuel Darragh (1932-2019) McGredy IV (1985).
Introduced in New Zealand by Egmont Roses in 1991 as 'Old Port'.
Class:
Floribunda, Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Mauve or purple blend.  Red and mauve. Burgundy-purple. Fading greyish..  Strong fragrance.  Very full (41+ petals), cluster-flowered, old-fashioned, quartered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Bushy, few or no prickles/thorns, upright.  Matte, medium green foliage.  

Height: 2' to 37" (60 to 95cm).  Width: 20" (50cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Plant in partial shade for best color.  Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

A hybrid tea rose variety producing red purple flowers.
The present invention relates to a new and distinct hybrid tea rose variety which was originated by my crossing as seed parent the variety known as `Macsupple` and as pollen parent the variety known as `Big Purple.` The varietal denomination of this new rose is `Mackati.`
