A New Zealand Guide to Miniature Roses
(1988) Page(s) 52. Includes photo(s). p34 photo. ‘Academy’.
p52 ‘Academy’ McGredy 1982 ‘Anytime’ x ‘Matangi’. A handpainted miniature with cream blooms edged with salmon. Weather resistant and produces excellent stems of four and more blooms. Some consider the blooms insipid but they’re an acquired taste. Vigorous bush.
(1988) Includes photo(s). p66 [photo] ‘Angelita’ McGredy 1982. ‘Moana’ x ‘Snow Carpet’. Creamy white rosette-shaped blooms repeat quickly and make a lovely display. Excellent for hanging baskets, on a bank or a larger rockery, ‘Angelita’ also looks spectacular as a weeping standard. Has a good repeat in autumn that is missing in ’Snow Carpet’ and the bloom is a little larger. Doesn’t spread quite as far as ‘Snow Carpet’.
p119 One of the seedlings that survived was ‘Angelita’ (‘Moana’ x ‘Snow Carpet’) which won a Gold Star of the South Pacific at the New Zealand Trial Grounds in 1982 and a Gold Award at the International Trial Ground in Dublin in 1983. Unfortunately ‘Angelita’ was sterile, so he went back to ‘Snow Carpet’ and now there is this further improvement in a vigorous pink groundcover.

p60 [photo] Anytime McGredy 1983. ‘New Penny’ x ‘Elizabeth of Glamis’. Semi-single salmon red. A smoky tinge overlays the basic colour and it has been described as having a metallic blue eye. Sets hips readily and has been a great parent for Sam McGredy, producing ‘Kaikoura’ and ’Wanaka’. Has bloomed happily in my garden for 12 years, having been shifted from one home to another, and is still vigorous.
(1988) Page(s) 50. Includes photo(s). ‘Bronze Baby’ Martin 1985. Deep orange-bronze blooms on a bush that grows well. Very highly rated in the first reports from growers published in the New Zealand Rose Annual.

p45 Photo. 'Coral Island' Meilland 1981. Beautifully shaped blooms of deep coral pink. Vigorous and healthy. Always attracts favourable comment in the garden and on the show bench.

p51 Firefly McGredy 1987. Shapely blooms of bronzy orange A free flowering plant with a bushy compact habit. Healthy.
(1988) Page(s) 62. p62 [photo] Freegold (also known as ‘Penelope Keith’). 1984. ‘Seaspray’ x ‘Dorola’. Bronzy yellow well-shaped blooms a little too big for the show bench. Strong grower and could be considered a patio rose. My favourite yellow. Picks well.

(1988) Page(s) 46. Includes photo(s). ‘Fresh Pink’ McGredy 1986. Lives up to its name. Good for garden display and also grows well hydroponically.
(1988) Page(s) 25. Erick Welsh raised about 1200 seedlings each year ….. Eric’s newest miniature has pale amber blooms and is called, appropriately, ‘Half Nip’.
(1988) Page(s) 59. Includes photo(s). 'Herbie'. Bennett 1986. 'Deep Purple' x 'Dilly Dilly'. Lavender with a rosy blush, this is a delightful little garden rose. The description in The American Rose says the blooms are urn-shaped and set one to a stem. The variety just released here is multi-petalled, a pinky lavender and has a lovely fully open form. I wonder if they are the same.
