I have not read this book by the great French authority, but the fact that a) he gives Villoresi's period as director of the Monza Imperial gardens as 1820-1840 (when the man had been dead already for 17 years) and when b) the only debate on when he started there is over whether he started in 1802 (unlikely in my opinion) or 1805 does not inspire confidence.
