What a great looking landscape type rose, David! Congratulations! I'm glad you chose Orange Honey. Mr. Moore stated numerous times there is a lot more to mine from that rose. He was more actively using it toward the end of his breeding career.

Thank you Kim!! I got 'Orange Honey' in the late 90's from Sequoia. I called and mentioned I really enjoy breeding roses and would love to buy some minis from them that were good female parents. That's how I got it. This rose (1B30) is actually the male parent of Oso Happy Petit Pink. It is a one time bloomer, but blooms over a long period of time. I love the stipples. It is super healthy too with great horizontal resistance to black spot. The male parent is one of Kathy Zuzek's rose seedlings. 1B30 has been a really nice parent for stipples and health. It gives ~50% repeaters with a repeat blooming mate. One challenge is that many of the seedlings are a bit slow growing and a little weak, so I haven't been using it as much in recent years. I should keep trying to use it.
Happy New Year Kim!!

Thanks, David, Happy New Year to you and yours, too! Amazing this is a once flowering type with that background. When you have the time, would you please add the parentage of your roses to HMF? It's very interesting seeing what you've used to create them. I looked at Oso Easy Petite Pink and the information you shared here isn't there. Unfortunately, it follows the photo when posted to a photo and isn't easily searched for later reference. And, yes, you SHOULD keep using it. I think there is some neat potential there! Thanks!

Hi Kim!!
To update pedigrees, like 1B30 is the male parent of Petit Pink, how do I do that? Kathy suspects that the male parent of the 'Applejack' op was the neighboring Rosa alba semiplena. Maybe that is where the one time blooming came into the lineage. The male parent of 1B30 from Kathy is a gorgeous single very heavily stippled rose. It has rich bluish green foliage and is a very hardy 1x bloomer.
Take Care, David

Hi David, I've emailed you how to accomplish this, thanks! Please feel free to ask anything which I didn't explain appropriately. Also, please feel free to add information such as the suspected Alba plena involvement in the Comments section. You can add a comment on the rose page alerting people to check comments for that reference, too. Please let either Lyn or me know if you need more information about it. Thank you!
