That is a rare rose! What is the provenance of it?

Greetings Jedmar.

The Viraraghavans of India provided seed. I shared seedlings with Cass, Jeff Stover and Burling Leong.

Seed germinated very easily. Thanks, Robert

Robert:
I should give you an update. The copy you sent died. I'm not sure why. It did well during the 2011 summer/fall in the Oregon climate which was cooler than usual. Maybe it was from the on and off again cold, warm, cold cycle that we experienced.

Thanks for the update Jeff. I guess this shouldn't come as a surprise.

As you know this species is way out of it's element in your gardening climate. It was worth a shot to find out.

R. tunquinensis is huge here. Interestingly I've raised some repeat flowering seedlings in the F1 from this species. Drop me a note if you want to see some pics.

Best wishes, Robert
