Hot dang, Robert! I've never seen hips on this or Purezza. Congratulations! Can't wait to see what germinates from this!

Kim, I remembered that you had told me this and that's why I posted the photos. I figured I better take a few photos while I could. This is not the first time I've found hips but they are few and far between.
From the look of the seed I'm guessing they won't germinate.
I sowed them regardless. We'll see what happens.

Educate me please. What specifically is it about "the look of the seed" that gives you doubts?

It's fairly common when there is only one or two seeds for them to not be overly fertile. I don't see anything about the particular seed which makes me question whether it's viable or not, but usually if they're shrunken, more flat as if they are empty, that could be an indicator. I'm sure Robert has other traits he looks for based upon his experience which clues him in to what he might expect, but those are usually my initial indicators.

Kathy, as Kim stated, low seed count per hip counts against success.
Also, in my experience seeds of this shape, that being rather symmetrical and conical in shape, do not germinate well, if at all.
Something akin to parthenocarpy sometimes occurs in roses. I'm guessing this is possibly what is happening here, except that one sort of faux seed is produced instead of no seed at all.
