Can you give me any information on rebloom on this beauty? I would also appreciate knowing about its performance in heat if you can comment on that.

Mine only in the ground a year now, but already 5'. Despite its youth, already a trooper in the heat of Livermore, CA where it is planted in full sun -- I think it's going to be good. It is a fast re-bloomer; just a few weeks between flushes all spring, summer, and fall.

Thank you so much for the information. I did purchase it from Vintage Gardens before they closed, but unfortunately mine inexplicably died. I don't know of any other source for this rose now, so am glad you have it and are enjoying it in your garden! Regards!

I've resisted replying to your inquiry because my "Marlowe Soft Orange" has been through many stresses over the years, first being planted in a place where I realized that all of the roses in that area lost water to the neighbors' trees and didn't do as well as they should have...then it was moved from So. Cal. to So. Oregon. But it was one of the few roses to survive the move from there to here which says its definitely a hardy rose. After trying to get re-established and then hit by a very harsh winter last year, it's getting back into its stride of blooming. It's never, under less than optimal conditions in my gardens, been a prolific bloomer, but I've loved the blooms that it has produced and have seen a gorgeous specimen of it in full bloom at the Sacramento Historic Rose Garden under much better conditions, so I know it can be quite something if given better care than my poor plant has had to endure. I bought mine from Garden Valley Ranch. If you'd like cuttings, I'd be glad to share them, and I may even try to grow some in my greenhouse this coming year. Send me a PM if you want to try some cuttings...next spring or so.

Hi Ingrid! I have seen the same rose as you in the Sac City Cemetery garden, and that is why I wanted one for my own garden. It is a gorgeous thing! I would love to take you up on the offer of cuttings next spring. We just got a greenhouse with a mist system going last summer, and I was amazed at the results--80%-90% success rate in hot weather under mist!!! Thank you for your generous offer--I will be glad to pay postage for cuttings, and will be in touch again next year.

Regards,
Sally

That's great news, Sally, and I'll look forward to your email telling me when you want the cuttings, your address, etc. It's so wonderful to be able to share such rare roses with others. Your success rate with cuttings is amazing! We'll have to compare notes to see how I can get my success rate up close to yours!

Do you belong to Gold Coast Heritage Roses, Ingrid? I am a member and there is an Ingrid W in that group. I think half of my rooting success is due to using Hormex #8 rooting hormone.

Yes, I am the same Ingrid W from GCHRS! Small world! I guess I shouldn't be too surprised since we're both interested in the same found and out-of-commerce rose, though, and probably many others. Thanks for the tip on Hormex #8, and someday I might look into a misting system to replace the hand-held mister I use now. ;--)

You know, all you need is a couple mister nozzles...even one attached to a hose and hung over your bench would give you amazing results. In hot weather most cuttings had roots out the bottoms of their pots in 2 to 3 weeks. We ran our misters from about 10 AM to 5 PM. We live in Chico, so very hot here & things rooted like crazy. Just got our misters going late summer--wish I had known what a difference it would make sooner. By the way I'm not sure how to exchange email addresses.

Thanks for the pointers on setting up misters and how helpful they are, Sally. I just saw your PM and will continue our discussion there.
