Origin:

Bred by Terry Roszko (Canada, 2000).

Class:

Shrub.

Bloom:

Butter-yellow. Mild fragrance. Average diameter 3". Medium, very double, in small clusters, globular bloom form. Moderate, continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season. Medium, ovoid buds.

Habit:

Medium, bushy, upright, well-branched. Medium, semi-glossy, dark green foliage.

Growing:

USDA zone 4a and warmer. Can be used for beds and borders, garden, shrub or specimen. Hardy. vigorous. benefits from winter protection in colder climates. can be grown as a shrub. Disease susceptibility: blackspot resistant, mildew resistant. Remove spent blooms to encourage re-bloom. Can be pruned to maintain a shorter habit.

Breeder's notes:

'Terry's Yellow' ('Morden Blush' x 'John Davis') had performed very well until cercospora leaf disease came this way. In Canadian zone 3 it grows as a dieback shrub with blooms that then take their sweet time to develop, thus is better suited to zone 4 (-34 C min) that old wood be maintained. Alternatively, at times I've laid the rigid canes to the ground that they be under the snow to come through winter unharmed. The plant then flowers earlier to produces a beautiful show and continues to push blooms for the season, requires deadheading. My only noted successful cross upon it has been 'Hazeldean.
