January 31 2020, Round Rock TX, Late afternoon. Same mid-winter bloom as taken on 1/29 - now fully open. Yes - that is black spot on old leaf left over from fall. I do not spray - so there is generally spot showing up by late fall throughout the garden. Just have not cleaned them all up yet. The plants get a light dusting (or two) of sulfur in spring and that's about it. Will be interesting to see if spot is a problem with this one. Most of the plant is clean, but it is still very small so we'll see.
