UPDATE: I moved and got another Jubilee from the same place and the second plant is not as impressive as the first. I don't know if it is the plant or the conditions. I wish I had dug up the first plant and taken it with me.
OLD review: I am extremely impressed with Jubilee so far. This rose was shipped at a very bad time during very long hard freezing weather and was packaged carelessly such that after the long trip in the mail the roots were totally shaken out of their pot and lost most of the soil. Another rugosa shipped in the same box did not survive at all but Jubilee came back surprisingly quickly from a totally frozen stick with about 2 inches of stick surviving the shipping conditions! What a will to live! Then, after gaining some strength it had to endure 2 weeks of over 100 degree weather. What a trooper. It is growing in a place that is in shade quite a bit of the day - it probably only gets 3 to 4 hours of sun. Regardless of all this, it produced large, gorgeously colored flowers and set hips immediately after blooming!! I love nibbling on rugosa rose hips. I have a purple pavement and a Foxi pavement planted right next to this plant and those 2 were planted a full year before this one and neither one has set hips yet but this one has! Foxi is in a spot where it gets more sun, and I do really like Foxi for the nonstop beautiful pink blooms and healthy rugosa foliage, but apparently it is not a great hip maker under my conditions. I am super impressed with Jubilee so far and wondering why it is not more popular. Perhaps it is the lack of a strong fragrance. I do smell a slight and pleasant fragrance when I put my nose right into it - but perhaps it is my imagination because I otherwise love this plant. If I move again I will definitely plant Jubilee again, along with my never-ending very favorite of all of the hundreds of roses I have grown, Fru Dagmar Hastrup.
