Just seen "Marlis Renaissance" at a local plant dealer, downtown Genoa, Italy. In this zone, we often see Poulsen "Renaissance" cultivars on sale. This "Marlis" is a young plant, yet well ramified and full of foliage. The plant looks good, with very modern dark shiny foliage, and old-ish fashioned flowers, a little bit in between a paler Frederic Mistral and Souvenir de la Malmaison. They are very full, and the fragrance is stunning, rose/lemony with a very light sweet touch of myrrh, like Spirit of Freedom. They are not particularly large, and are often grouped on that young plant, so it could maybe fall more into Grandiflora category. It looks promising in my eyes, and I'm tempted to buy it, even just for that stunning fragrance.
