The title Duc d'Elchingen was created by Napoléon for Maréchal Ney in 1808. Michel Louis Félix Ney (August 24, 1804 - July 14, 1854), the 2nd Duke and General, died from cholera during the siege of Sebastopol in Crimea. His son, Michel-Aloys Ney (May 3, 1835 Paris - February 23, 1881 Fontenay-aux-Roses), the 3rd Duke, was also a general.
