Nola Simpson, a well known rose breeder of Palmerston North, has released a stunning new patio rose which has been named 'Arahina'. The rose, which is being commercially grown at Mathews Nurseries, Wanganui, has been named after the Girl Guides' Association Training Centre and proceeds from sales will benefit that organisation. Arahina is a deep champagne in colour, has long-lasting qualities, and grows to about 60cm in height. The plant will be available in a 1.5 litre pot and ready for distribution October/November at a cost of $15.00. Initially, the plant will be available only through Girl Guide Centres, and for Kapiti Rose Society members, the co-ordinator of orders and deliveries is: Larraine Murrie, 163B Broderick Road, Johnsonville. Phone 04 477 4471.
Note: Orders close at the end of July 1999 and, as stocks are limited, early ordering is recommended.
