August 7, 2011 This is the bloom on the fat-budded 'Compassion' seedling, #C-2008-3. It is fragrant, repeat blooming, a short (so far) climber and a surprising yellow seedling of pink 'Compassion'. The blooms open into large HT-like visions. Scrumptious, healthy and vigorous. The photo was taken when the seedling was only two years old. I think it has a nice, slightly more formal shape compared to the narrow budded seedling #C-2008-2. I want to register this climber.

This is a seedling of 'Compassion', #C-2008-3. Not a spot of mildew or rust. I can't waIt to see the blooms this year.

This is a second yellow seedling, #C-2008-3, from an open-pollinated collection of hips gathered from 'Compassion'. I think this is a yellow version that is more like a Hybrid Tea in form. This plant is a little smaller than its yellow sister, #C-2008-2. That's the fault of the gardener, not the plant. I kept the plant in a smaller pot for a few months too long.
