My own root K and M was one of the most sun-proof, heat tolerant roses (along with Polynesian Punch) out of 80-plus container grown roses in Albuquerque NM the past 4 or so years. It is a continuous bloomer in all day sun with no color fading and good sized blooms, ie not noticeably smaller/stunted, I just had to keep it well watered, soaking the entire barrel every morning during the extended high temps period, which lasted a good 3 months, high 90's to over 100 degrees. I fed all my roses with water soluble fertilizer and sometimes fish emulsion, every 3-4 weeks, even during the big heat period. The key was water, though, in my opinion, K and M drinks a LOT of water, I can tell how much my container roses are drinking by the weight of the barrel the day after a soaking, and K and M drains the barrel more quickly than most (if not all) of the others. It seems like my healthiest, most productive container roses are the ones that are lusty drinkers, LOL. (Polynesian Punch is also a lusty drinker). Regarding leaf shedding, I did not notice any beyond what is normal for all roses. PS: both pics were taken during the big heat period.
