I have grown this rose cultivar for seven years and where I live in Deniliquin Australia , have never seen rust on it yet. Mine only flowers mid to late spring, but when it does , has the most beautiful flowers you have seen along with a very pleasant perfume. It can get quite large, but I manage by a heavy pruning straight after flowering and then a follow up pruning of new growth to force out laterals which does not effect its spring flowering.
This has been coming back for three years here in zone 4. I keep in covered with snow during the long winters and every year it gets bigger. The dark red, almost purple stems contrast with the lime green shiny foliage making a pretty plant even when not blooming. One of the few apricot roses to survive our winters.
In 8 years this rose has never produced a single bloom once the Spring flush finished. Combined with its health problems and blooms fading to a very unattractive color after the first day, I cannot recommend this rose. There are far better shrubs to be had that are similar.
