If there would be an award for the most unusual fragrance, the Hybrid Tea Diamonds Forever by Bob Matthews from New Zealand would have earned this special award as its fragrance is very differentiated and special, but not necessarily pleasant.

p21 'Elina' with her strong growth and healthy dark green foliage is one that has stood the test of time, giving an almost continuous display throughout the season. A newer one with cream blooms is 'Diamonds Forever' which promises to display similar attributes.

No. 4683 69.7 points. 'Diamonds Forever' (MATtdiafor) HT. Breeder: Matthews. Agent: Matthews. Yellow.

p77 ibid. Other roses of note. 'Diamonds Forever (MATTdiafor). HT. I thought this rose would pick up an award. The yellow, although sometimes pale yellow, multi stemmed HT blooms often looked superb in form and then deteriorated rather rapidly within a short time. The fragrance was heavenly and the plants grew well with glossy medium green quite healthy foliage.

'Diamonds Forever' (Mattdiafor} Yellow. Parentage: 'Gisborne 2000' x 'Matawhero Magic' Breeder: Matthews 2007. Awards: Most Fragrant Rose, NZ Rose of the Year trials, Hamilton 2008. Garden: 7.4. Exhibition: 6.3. Height: Medium to Tall. Health: 7.0. Fragrance: 5.0. Waikato: Very healthy plant, bold colour, promising for shows, great in any garden. Matamata: Lots of flowers, some confused centres, glossy foliage. Te Awamutu: Healthy, lovely colour, strong plants, repeats well. Bay of Plenty: Average health, plenty of blooms. Manawatu: Good fragrance for a yellow rose, blooms large with slightly cabbagy appearance but can get some nice formed ones too, some black spot otherwise good health. Med/tall bush rose, flops badly in the wind, dark glossy foliage, repeat well, does not last well when picked. Horowhenua: Lovely clear colour that lasts really well, always in flower, very healthy. Wairarapa: Would rather have 'Glorious'. Marlborough: A robust healthy bush that repeats rapidly, blooms rather floppy once past quarter open. Canterbury: Shame it doesn't have a good centre for exhibition, couldn't disbud this to make it a HT - its a floribunda with large flowers, some mildew.
