'Apache ®' rose Reviews & Comments

Apache. Was this one named to connect to Americans??? People barely know the name of the tribes (Sioux) from where I was born.
A bit of a stretch.
Not even sold in the US, either. Sort of odd.

You're forgetting the impact of old Hollywood movies... An Australian Aboriginal lecturer once demonstrated that his audience could name more Native American tribes than they could Aboriginal peoples. But yes, maybe trying for financial appeal. Kordes and Poulsen both named roses after English counties. Without regard for whether the name was already in use; eg 'Suffolk' Perry 1983, Kordes 1988, Poulsen 1993.

Possibly more the North Americans. My Euro friends sometimes seem more serious about my own country (ie the details) than we are, lol.
I am hoping the name was chosen for a red, for the SW US desert sands or maybe even a helicopter type (???). I am giving Kordes the benefit of the doubt to not do something as stupid as to name it after skin-tone.
