Origin:

Bred by Mauget (France, before 1827).
Introduced in France by Jean-Pierre Vibert in 1827 as 'Charles X'.

Class:

China / Bengale.

Bloom:

Red to crimson, purple shading. Mild fragrance. 30 to 50 petals. Medium, moderately full, ruffled bloom form. Glandular sepals buds.

Possibly identical with the Noisete by Vibert, as an early reference calls it both Noisette and Bengal.
