Class:
Gallica / Provins.  
Bloom:
Purple blend: lavender base with deep purple overlay, often uneven through the bloom. Occasional white streaks..  Strong, old rose, spice, violets fragrance.  50 to 80 petals.  Average diameter 3".  Medium, very full (41+ petals), cluster-flowered, in small clusters, flat to cupped, quartered bloom form.  Prolific, once-blooming spring or summer.  Small, fragrant, rounded buds.  
Habit:
Medium, arching, suckers on its own roots, upright.  Medium, matte, dark green, attractive fall color, leathery foliage.  3 to 5 leaflets.  

Height: 3' to 7' (90 to 215cm).  Width: 3' to 7' (90 to 215cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4a through 9a.  Can be used for garden, hedge, shrub or specimen.  Very hardy.  vigorous.  a good subject for pegging.  drought resistant.  flowers drop off cleanly.  shade tolerant.  Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant.  Needs little care; relatively disease-free and quite hardy.

This excellent Gallica came from a group of seedlings grown from open pollinated seed given to me by Cheryl Netter from her Colorado garden.
