No measurable difference was observed between 'Hermosa' and 'Setina', 'Hermosa's' climbing sport. This was not surprising. Microsatellite analysis measures differences in microsatellites, which are found primarily in the non-coding sections of the DNa. Sports and slight changes in growth habit are produced by slight changes in the coding sections that are not analyzed by microsatellite analysis.

The results indicate that 'Setina' (syn. 'Climbing Hermosa', C17) is the sport of 'Hermosa' (C7) [both ex Antique Rose Emporium], and many references list this as the parentage, even in cases where these roses were grouped into the Bourbon class rather than China or Hybrid China (Cairns (ed.), 2000; Dickerson, 1992).
