If you don't mind its growing habit, which is heavy on gracefully branching twigs and light on foliage, this can be a very good rose. In the San Jose, California area, unsprayed, it never shows any trace of PM or rust, and only a few tiny speckles of BS. It doesn't seem to demand much watering, or really, care of any kind. It isn't super floriferous, but the single blooms last several days, and have a sweet, cherry-vanilla candy sort of scent which is quite pleasant. The bark is reminiscent of a wild rose, and some of the more recent clones I've seen have been entirely thornless, which was a pleasant surprise. If there are any hybridizers reading this, know that it sets hips with the greatest of ease, and provides around 5-6 achenes per hip. Pollen is produced in reasonable quantity, and fertility looks decent.
