'Climbing Mrs. Pierre S. duPont' rose Reviews & Comments

If one searches for Mrs. Pierre S. du Pont, the climbing form comes up as the only option, even though its description says it is a sport of the non-climbing version. Even selecting the option that the name "contains" and entering "Mrs. Pierre" and ending at that, you still get only the climbing version. Yet if you go to the climbing form's lineage and click on the link to its sport parent, it takes you to the shrub form entry. I can find no other way of getting to that entry. Could you please look into that situation? Thanks!

Hi Malcolm, there is a page for the original bush form. I'm not sure why your search didn't find it, but if you check the parentage for the climber, it reports sport of Mrs. Dupont, which, when clicked on, takes you to its page. https://www.helpmefind.com/gardening/pl.php?n=4326

Thanks Kim, but that's kind of what I already said. The only way I can find to get to the page for the shrub is to go to the lineage page for this climber, and click the hotlink. I have not discovered anyway HMF will let me "search" for the bush form and actually get there directly

Ok it's a search glitch. If I copy and paste what you wrote, yes, it goes right to the shrub. However, if you end "Mrs." with a period/full stop, it ALWAYS goes uniquely here to the climber! The period after "S." seems to be optional in either search. But any form of "Mrs. Pierre [+ anything] seems always to come here; never to the shrub.

Your observation is correct, there seems to be a software glitch with the name. I have deleted and added the name back. Now both the shrub and climbing form appear when typing 'Mrs. Pierre'. However, 'Mrs Pierre' without the fullstop after Mrs does not work any longer.

Charles Quest-Ritson says Buisman had a 1937 sport, but in a different book, also mentions the Hillock 1933 sport. The West Australian nursery took a half page advertisement to announce a local sport in 1940. This was confirmed in the Hazelwood 1947 catalogue wherein they put the date of Laurel Nursery sport as 1941.
