[Listed under "Wild Roses and Their Cultivars"] A rounded shrub with the appearance of an Old Rose, although it is reputedly a 'Schneezwerg' seedling. Svedja (Canada) 1968. Leaves more like Rosa pimpinellifolia than Rosa rugosa.

Page 41: Although it looks like an old rose and is named after the Elizabethan seafarer, this rose was raised by Svejda at the Canadian Dept. of Agriculture in 1968, reputedly from seed of 'Schneezwerg', a hybrid of R. rugosa. It makes a rounded bush about 1.5 m high, with one or two flowers continually open after the initial burst. Scented like but in leaves and general appearance much more like a large form of R. pimpinellifolia
