A very modern Gallica, this is a seedling of R. gallica 'Officinalis' .....raised in 1996 by John Scarman and named for his father, the renowned English High Court judge. The stems are upright, to 4 ft (1.2m), the flowers loosely semidouble, rather cup-shaped, deep reddish-pink, the petals paler on the back. Garden Notes. This is shorter than most Gallicas, like a more refined 'Officinalis'. Hardy to -20F (-29C), Zone 5.
