p382. Mme. Joseph Perraud’ syn ‘Sunburst’. Modern, large-flowered hybrid tea. Yellow blend. Repeat-flowering. This rose was introduced into Australia as ‘Sunburst’, and it soon became a favorite rose there. The large flowers are yellow with a deeply veined coppery center, are double with 30 petals and are fragrant. The buds of yellow flushed copper are long and pointed and particularly attractive, but the copper color in the center of the bloom fades quickly in hot weather. The foliage is glossy and disease free and flower production is good. Zones 5-11. Guajard, France 1934. ‘Julien Potin’ x seedling. Bagatelle Gold Medal 1934.

p265. Madame Joseph Perraud. Syn: ‘Sunburst. Large Flowered. Julien Potin x unnamed seedling. Repeat flowering. Fragrant. On Joseph Pernet-Ducher’s death in 1928, his business passed on to Jean Gaujard, who released ‘Madame Joseph Perraud’ in 1934. Some people think it was in fact one of the last creations of the ‘Wizard of Lyon’. It was popular for some years in America as ‘Sunburst’, but like so many of the early yellow large-flowered roses it is best in a warm dry climate where black spot is not a problem. The foliage is a glossy green and the flowers handsome in shape. Their old gold color is lightly touched with salmon. It was raised from Pernet-Ducher’s stock.
