Love ya Dad doesn't do well in my alkaline soil. It lost most of the leaves during spring frost, but other mini-roses like Blue Mist, Scentsational, and Norwich Sweetheart were not affected. Love Ya Dad's bloom get flatten out like a star, only has the hybrid tea in bud-form. The scent is like an odd spice. Clove?

Love ya' Dad was planted in 2005. It gets sun from dawn until 1700 with dappled shade until sundown. Love ya' Dad is not cane hardy here. Canes die to the mounding or snow line. It is close to the driveway and gets lots of snow piled on it in winter. Spring growth usually starts early. It is one of the first to bloom. We get 50 to 60 blooms per flush. Turnaround time is average, about 6 weeks.

Blooms open slowly and look good over a week. Deb uses them a lot in bouquets. I rate fragrance strong. Deb says it is almost strong. Bloom color does fade in the sun. The older blooms still look pretty good. Love ya' Dad has become my favorite red mini.

Love ya' Dad gets almost 3 feet tall x 3 feet wide for us. Foliage usually looks excellent, thick and lush.
Blackspot isn't a problem here. I wash foliage twice a week and that keeps powdery mildew away.

Excellent rose - the grouping of Love ya' Dad, X-Rated, Sweet Arlene, Yantai and Georgette is one of the best we have.

Here is the color that most people want...a great red. Even better, this rose will give you a wonderful garden display and some fragrance.

We planted Love ya Dad in 2005. LyD has become a favorite and one of our best minis in only 2 seasons. It was a bloom machine in its 2nd season. Looks like the 3rd year will be even better. Only problem I have with it is capturing that incredible red color perfectly with a camera. Fragrance is much stronger than I expected. It is among the first of our roses to bloom this year.
