Magazine (Aug 1968) Page(s) 29. L. V. Lawrence, Australian-raised Roses. ‘Olympic Flame’. There have not been many suitable floribundas raised in Australia but this rose is well worth a place in any rose garden. The growth is bushy and strong whilst the flowers are orange flame in coloring. This rose was raised by Mr V. Brett in 1961.
Book (1958) Page(s) 14 & 107. p14 Harry H. Hazlewood. Some New Roses for 1958. ‘Highlight’ (Robinson, 1957). Described as vivid orange scarlet but the colour here leans more to the orange side. It closely resembles a local seedling raised by Mr. P. W. Brett, of Canberra .......
p107 Dr. A.. S. Thomas. Victorian Review. Olympic Flame. Flor. (Brett, -----) As seen in the raiser’s garden in Canberra, I consider this to be one of the best of all Floribundas. Its orange-vermilion colouring is quite unique. The two and a half-inch semi-double florets are produced in well spaced panicles. They neither fade nor burn and a spray remained in excellent condition for over a week in my home. It is possible that this rose will be entered in some of the overseas competititons. If so, I will be surprised if it does not score well.
