'Lady Gay' rose Description

Orange-pink Hybrid Wichurana. Registration name: Lady Gay (hybrid wichurana, Walsh, 1903)
Class:
Hybrid Wichurana, Rambler.
Bloom:
Cherry-red, vermilion shading, ages to blush . Strong fragrance. Average diameter 1.75". Small to medium, double (17-25 petals), in large clusters, open bloom form. Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.
Habit:
Climbing. Small, glossy, dark green foliage.
Height: 12' to 20' (365 to 610cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Very hardy. very vigorous.
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Some differences of opinion about Parentage. Very similar to 'Dorothy Perkins' Member Palustris reports elsewhere that: 'Lady Gay' has slightly larger flowers than 'Dorothy Perkins' or 'Minnehaha'. 'Lady Gay' outer petals are almost white. 'Lady Gay' pedicel has sparse and minute bristles. 'Lady Gay' new foliage is never bronze.
