Meryl's comment Apr 13, 2013 in Website Errors: HMF's description of Our Copper Queen has "none to mild fragrance". However the major Australian grower, Treloar Roses, lists it among the most highly fragrant roses and the solitary HMF member who has rated this rose gives it "excellent" for fragrance.
There seems no doubt that sniffers are getting results from this rose. The references vary from mild, to "fragrant" and Jay-Jay in comments, gets a cedar cigar-tobacco perfume. Just right now, that sounds rather nice to this long ago ex-smoker. Mild to strong should cover the fragrance for all noses. Thanks Meryl.

In my opinion, it has a stronger and better fragrance than Valencia... At least in my garden where they grow side by side. And a bonus is, that Kupferkönigin is more winterhardy and almost continuously flowers.

It's in the description for this rose Anup. I cannot speak for how it behaves in India. Over here it reached about 65cm spread 40-50cm. Alas it died due to winter-temperatures and very dry seasons in combination with the soil, I have to deal with. It's also prone to Black-spot, which defoliates the rose. The temps where mostly too high last summers to use the (natural) spraying mix from Rosarium Winschoten.

The already included AU patent states:
"Origin Controlled pollination: ‘Koreklia’ syn Valencia by ‘Korpora’. Breeder: Wilhelm Kordes, Klein Offenseth-Sparrieshoop, Germany. "
Well, Valencia was an easy guess. I would have never guessed 'Cristel von der Post' (KORpora) though.
It seems that Kordes abandoned their 'Chantre' line of old golds in favor of this 'Whisky Mac' (via KORekia) line of old golds. I believe Valencia was used with resistant types for some new Kordes rose, but none with the old gold color. Bummer. I was hoping they'd get to the point of releasing a super healthy old gold HT that wasn't junk in the garden.

I was distracted and mistakenly uploaded an About Face picture under Copper Queen. This picture was also uploaded correctly under About Face. Please delete this version. I'm sorry.

In The Netherlands some nurseries told us that "Copper Queen" ("Kupferkönigin") is the same as "Kupferkönig". The one they sold us as such, smells like a good cigar, is of a golden-yellow-coppery colour (Slightly fading to more yellow) and a diameter between 5 and 8 inches! Almost constantly flowering.

They appear to be mistaken as we have them listed on HMF as two distinctly different roses.
Also, your post was not the appropriate place to use the REPLY button as your post is really a new discussion and not a response to the initial post about and incorrect photo posting. For new discussions, use the POST A COMMENT button at the top of the page.
