Where did this one GO??? Per the new Rose List it is now available only in INDIA???? The capriciousness of rose marketing never fails to amaze me. Medium yellow shading to white on the bloom edges, lovely lighter green matte foliage, my plant was a bloom machine, quite healthy, gave me some stunning exhibition-y blooms. I was new to my pot culture when Buttercream and I met and I held it (and others) far, far too long in "storage" and this was lethal.............tried to replace it and couldn't find it................yellow of any shade remains nearly a wide-open field with HT's...........this was as good a contender as any...............

I have two of these roses. One is in full sun all day long. It is doing great. One has a tree that is starting to shade it a bit to much. This rose is not long for this world. From my own experience, I would say that Buttercream only does well with a lot of sun. We also get 100+ heat in the Summertime.

CRAZY, but yes, YOU ARE SPOT ON?! I had it in 2004, I was living in an apartment with a deck and it had full sun. That winter I moved and the next summer (plant overwintered in a good, safe garage, totally exited the winter looking great)...the NEXT summer my new patio/deck was pretty darn shaded. Got some very early sun only, not much. The other roses didn't excel but chugged on through. Buttercream gave me 3 insanely gorgeous blossoms and then simply FOLDED. DIED. KAPUT!

The parentage is JACyap x (seedling x Sun Glory). I have no clue what Sun Glory is but that's what the patent says. I imagine it is this rose: http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/pl.php?n=21360 |

This is a frustrating rose. The bush just doesn't want to grow with any vigor at all. Blooms are all over the board, but mostly of good size, rather quilled in appearance, of a pretty light yellow that doesn't fade and sometimes fails to open completely. On occasion it gets everything together and gives that one outstanding bloom that keeps hopes alive that it will finally become a good and reliable garden and even exhibition rose.
