Bred by Moulin aîné (France, 1850).
Introduced in France by Moulin aîne et fils in 1853 as 'Manteau d'Évêque'.

Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Purple - violet, ages to violet-red .  Strong fragrance.  Average diameter 4".  Large, in small clusters, scalloped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Large, dark green foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
