I'm in Zone 6 and my (third year) Thomas Affleck has been a wonderful rose for me. Foliage is very healthy and the plant and blooms seem to love it when it is hot. The bloom color is a nice balance with the foliage color. I love that it is thornless and so easy to care for.

Off to a good start; blooms are large and a wonderful glowing deep pink. Not the most resistant in my new no-spray garden but it is a first-year plant, too soon to judge.

Thomas Affleck had a terrible first season here no spray. TA arrived from vendor with BS & PM so it had those two conditions almost the entire first season of 2014...

2015 Thomas Affleck has NOT had one speck of BS or PM this year! Leaves stayed clean from Spring until frost... I'll report back at the end of next year...

It would be unusual for a rose to be introduced eight years before it was bred, though I can suppose it's possible. ARE's website just lists 1998 as the date; perhaps that it when it was introduced, and 2006 is when it was registered?

Yes. Sometimes these dates are just ridiculous. In retrospect, it might have been good to have three dates: Bred, Introduced and Registered. But even that Bred date can waver terribly.
I have added a reference and used 1996.
