'Atlantic Charter' rose References
Article (misc) (1950) Page(s) 192. Atlantic Charter Hybrid Tea. Salmon-pink. (Howard; introduced by Howard & Smith 1942)
Book (1949) p38. Dr. A. S. Thomas. Let us Take Stock - Old and New. Atlantic Charter (1 plant 2 years and 4 plants 1 year). Rampant upright growth as vigorous as any I have seen. Grow as a bush rather than as a standard. Flowers are available in colour, shrimp to apricot on the outside and deep pink on the inner aspect of each petal. Blooms come singly on long stems. Perfectly formed and long lasting. Loses colour on keeping, like most of its type. The firm petals number about 25 and are often waved in the full-blown flower. Like an addition to the Texas Centennial-Hoover-Elite group. Very good.
p84. Frank Mason. The Newer Roses in New Zealand. Atlantic Charter. When this rose came to me I could not find it listed. It did badly the first season, but late in the Autumn I saw a flower that was worth while. It shall be tried again.
Book (1948) Page(s) 20. Harry H. Hazlewood. The New Roses of 1947-48. Atlantic Charter, HT. (Howard and Smith) A very attractive lively coppery salmon bloom of 25-30 petals fading to lighter shades as the bloom ages. Like so many of this type, the colours vary according to weather conditions, but taken all round it is a very fine decorative with exhibition possibilities. The growth is tall and branching with numerous thorns. Foliage shows somewhat deeper serrations than normal, while at a glance there is a suggestion of 'President Hoover' parentage in the back ground
Website/Catalog (1947) Page(s) 5. Supplement to the 1947 catalogue. Novelty Roses 1947-48. Atlantic Charter (HT. Howard & Smith) A very attractive coppery salmon bloom of 25-30 petals fading to lighter shades as the bloom ages. The growth is tall and branching with a suggestion of 'President Hoover' parentage in the background. 6/- each.
