'Aquarius' rose Reviews & Comments

I usually can tell pretty quickly if I will like a rose or not, and so far I really love Aquarius. I ordered mine own-root from Roses Unlimited, and within days of being repotted from what she was shipped it, she shot up a huge basal. She has a unique color, has been disease free so far, and the blooms last a long time on the plant. My only negative is that the blooms, so far, are smaller than I was hoping, but that may have more to do with our 90+ degree streak very early here in Houston while she was blooming. Glad I picked this one up!

A neighbor has this rose. I pruned it for them this winter. They had it 10' up into the sky from never pruning it. They never water, fertilize, or prune it. Its virtually cast iron in this climate. Some minor BS and nothing much else. Color can be really neat or really dull, depending on weather.

Wow, did it make quite a good-looking bush being left unpruned like this? Or just like a rangy overgrown bunch of sticks?
I've been thinking of getting it.

More like 3" diameter canes skyward to heaven, with a lot of top growth, seeking more light. Like I said, totally neglected, but strong.

My 'Elina' does the same thing. Some HTs in this climate, if very old, can produce some amazingly lethal canes lol. I have also seen this occur on 4 plants of 'Oklahoma' in downtown Portland, all planted in a row near a house.

This ROSE! A true legend. A complete bloom machine, fuss-free, extremely disease resistant, and a wonderful cut flower. What is amazing about this rose is that has been a pleasure to grow for decades and in many parts of the country! CA, TX, GA...always a wonderful ROSE! If you can find this one...GET IT! You will most certainly be pleased.

Not sure how I have never commented on this one, not sure how this one has missed being a contender, missed being a legend. It is one---and there are some!---that is so good, so reliable, SO even EXCELLENT yet somehow for some reason so not literally outstanding in any one manner that is never seems to have gotten the following it deserves. The blooms are too small for a HT. It doesn't cluster, it really isn't a GR. Its health is far better than its peers. I'd recommend it to any beginner, I have grown it off and on for almost 50 years and always, always been very pleased with it. But even there what I wrote, so much praise yet so not specific. A GREAT rose just needs some other energy behind it...…………..
