Gypsy HT. (Weeks). Bright scarlet red A.A.R.S. winner. Double blooms on good strong stems, and as is to be expected, growth and foliage are very good. Fragrant.

Gypsy - Here is a 1973 AARS winning Hybrid Tea rose with a name to match its gleaming, fiery, orange-red colour. Long, sturdy stems hold the graceful, urn-shaped buds aloft to open into fiery double blooms like great rubies. The attractive, slightly cup-formed roses with their large petals of brilliant orange-red keep that colour from the time the first petals unfold until the last petal falls, almost regardless of weather. ‘Gypsy’ bears its continuous bloom on a broad upright growing plant of average height. The sturdy stems are well covered with large, deep green leathery leaves that stay on the plant. The bush is well proportioned, forming an unusually attractive ensemble of sturdy, vigorous branches clothed in deep green and topped with lively orange-red splendor to which is added a light spicy fragrance. ‘Gypsy’ was hybridized by Swim and Weeks and introduced by the Conard-Pyle company.
