'Geschwinds Nordlandrose' ...Known in culture in Sweden since 1930 as a variety sold by Göteborgs Gardening Society. ....Description .... According to Pom's DNA study 'Geschwinds Nordlandrose' has as its nearest relative the reference 'Kazanlik' and the genetically identical 'Quatre Saisons' and 'Quatre Saisons Blanc Mousseux'...Their similarity index is 57,1%. The next nearest related varieties are four sorts in the Damask group: 'Helga Schiemann', 'Erik', 'Beas Lustiga' and 'Jonstorp'. Their similarity indices with 'Geschwinds Nordlandrose' lies between 56,0 and 53,8%. A further six Damask roses have similarity indices over 48,0%. ... 'Geschwinds Nordlandrose' is classed as Multiflora variety to date. Pom's DNA study gave no support that it belongs to the Multiflora group. The similarity index of 'Geschwinds Nordlandrose' with Rosa multiflora...was 19,2%. Pom's DNA study shows that 'Geschwinds Nordlandrose' should be placed in the Damask group.

Article (magazine) (2006) Page(s) 7. By crossing R. roxburghii with R. beggeriana Geschwind got hardy hybrids with climbing growth. Further cross-breeding led him to a series of roses he called Nordlandrosen. The most popular variety of this series is Geschwind's Nordlandrose Nr. I. Its silvery pink flowers which appear a second time on older specimens in autumn are in my view unique among roses.

Book (1957) Page(s) 114. Rosa multiflora 'Gschwinds Nordland' Growth: Upright to slightly arching. Foliage: fresh green. Blooms: The buds are pink to wine-red, while the expanded blooms are soft pink double and have a diameter of approx. 8 cm. The plants are very floriferous. Fruit: Orange-red, elongated, up to 2 cm long. Prickles scattered, but mainly at the base. Sepals up to 1,5 cm long, broad, calyx open. Prickles: Irregularly distributed along the green, red shaded branches.

The snow cover was up to 35-40 cm, the lowest temperature -28-30 °C.
