Emanuel. A truly superb rose with large, voluptuous blush pink flowers, shaded with gold at the base of the petals. There is no English Rose that combines such large blooms with so great a freedom of flowering. Unfortunately it it suffers very badly from blackspot, but I would recommend it to anyone who is prepared to spray against this disease. Very fragrant. W 90cm (3ft) x H 120cm (4ft). Breeding ('Chaucer' x modern climber 'Parade') x seedling x floribunda 'Iceberg'.) Introduced 1985.

Emanuel Large, heavy, voluptuous flowers of a soft blush pink shaded with gold at the base. They open to a rather flat bloom made up of numerous petals which are twisted and scrolled at the centre in an unusual manner, the colours mingling to create a most attractive effect. Rich fragrance. The growth is vigorous, some 4ft. in height and it is exceptionally free flowering. The only weakness is a tendency to blackspot and it may require spraying in areas subject to this disease. This rose was named for David and Elizabeth Emanuel, the well-known dress designers. Austin (U.K.) 1985.
