...Enfin, dans les roses nouvelles 1882-1883. M. W. Paul considère comme bonnes les variétés ci-après: Duchesse of Connaught, Edith Giffard [sic], l'Elégante, Lord Bacon, Fanny de Forest, Madame Rémond, Marie Digat, Marguerite de Roman, Merveille de Lyon, Queen of Queens, etc. Il y a certainement d'autres bonnes variétés qui ont été produites pendant cette année là, mais M. W. Paul n‘a pas pu se prononcer sur leur valeur réelle, n'ayant pu encore les étudier d'une manière certaine.
