'Golden Orange Climber' rose References
Book (1948) Page(s) 56. K. P. Jones, Barrington, Rhode Island. Wichuraiana Hybrids. A collector's item is the strange Golden Orange Climber , a sport of ‘Mrs. Arthur Curtiss James’. It doesn't bloom profusely but its huge blossoms are unlike those of any other rosé in the garden. The opened flower is five to six inches across and has about 15 large, crinkly, poppy-like petals, orange and golden yellow with a scarlet tinge at the edges--a delightful but fragile blossom, orientally exotic.
Website/Catalog (1941) Page(s) [8]. Climbing Golden Orange Climber, LC. (The Brownells, 1937.) Plant Patent No. 96. Large, semi-double flowers in delicate shades of yellow and orange, informally waved and crinkled. Having long stems it is also exquisite as a cut-flower. Plant is vigorous and hardy. One for the connoisseur. $1.00 each.
Book (1938) Page(s) 89. R.Marion Hatton. New Roses in America. Golden Orange Climber is not so double, having but 17 petals. Its three inch flowers are rich orange and deliciously fragrant. The petals are thin and waved and crinkled, somewhat like those of a poppy. I would like to see it produce a few more flowers.
